The tentacles of technology were messing with me big time throughout this module. At first, they were just annoying. Throughout Bonk's first couple of chapters I read and discussed with my PLC group, topics like Google and the Open Library were ones that I had heard, used and felt pretty confident with, so I never really gave them much thought, nor did I have much of a reaction to them. I just kept thinking, geez, not more Google!
Then, the tentacles began to suction themselves to me. More or less to say, NOW HEAR THIS!! Topics such as NotSchool, Free and Open Software, only to name a few, really encouraged me to think about how and when I might begin to use these ideas in my classroom-realizing that my students are no longer passivee learners.
The tentacles of technology are now, sucking the life out of me as I try to make heads or tales of what I've read in such a short period of time. I am feeling very claustrophobic. However, it appears there is a small opening I can see through. My brain is beginning to slow down enough to comprehend that I really can't tackle it ALL! So, with this in mind, I have begun to peel the tentacles off one by one with the hopes that I will try at least one technology idea, thingy, or whatchamacallit this school year.
Here's my advice for a Friday evening --- go to your favorite restaurant, order some fried calamari with your beverage of choice, and EAT the tentacles tonight, instead of letting them devour you!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carol! But I will be very disappointed in you if you do not use glogster after we spent time setting up your account!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Candi! Bonk was alot to take in...but now I have been able to take the time to go and play around with some of the things he suggests and it is starting to make more sense.
